A multimedia immersion in the underground history of ancient Andria, with its strata and the traces left behind by man and the passage of time.

The project was born from the desire to implement a process that promotes knowledge of the territory and cultural heritage of Andria, focusing in particular on that complex of underground places (underground oil mills, crypts and remains of early Christian churches, cisterns, minor buildings), sites of significant historical-cultural and documentary interest not yet recognized as such.
The structure of Borgomurgia itself is what most characterizes the guest experience: CasaMuseo is inside a stately building, in the heart of the historic center of Andria, already a reference for authentic and quality hospitality, with the stone rooms, the elegant courtyard, the basements, the panoramic terraces, the authentic dimension of life in the ancient village, still well rooted here. The goal is to convey to the guest, to the tourist, the experience of the destination Puglia as the Apulians live it, among the city markets, the restaurants and trattorias of the food and wine tradition, the historic bars, the ancient oil mills, the palaces, churches and squares that characterize the historic center, the bell towers that are the symbol of the city.

The journey retraces ancient stretches of city streets that later became private spaces, where shops, churches, warehouses, workshops, and living spaces are located, enriched with virtual presences that will guide the audience in discovering the activities that took place in the ancient city.
The places resonate with the echoes of narrating voices using texts from the podcast story ‘Le Pietre Parlano’. The walls exude the memories of those who inhabited them, bringing to life the ancient inhabitants.
The bustling activities and the once-vibrant reality of the underground spaces, now silent, are evoked. The city’s history is staged through multimedia effects and installations. Water reaches the underground areas. The walls give way to new rooms and old streets. The building activities of workers, artisans, and monks, almost magically, come to life.
The life and residential dimension of a small townhouse, its layers, and the different social classes that frequented it, become a shared story, an expression of the history of an entire community and its traditions.

The output of the project consists of a suggestive visual, immersive visit path, which will soon also be multimedia and interactive, correlated to a narration in the form of an audiobook, accessible in podcast or even via video – reproducible through Qr code.
The story comes from an accurate research and documentation of documentary material, which is mediated by a simpler and more communicative language, through the setting of a general storytelling that includes the presence of a “guide” (personified by the character of Annina) who, like a Virgil, will lead from the hinterland of the Borgomurgia building and ideally through the streets of the ancient village, up to some of the symbolic monuments of the city, through a journey to discover the history of the City, constituting an element of empathy with the users.

Andria has an ancient history and it stands out for having been loved by Federico II di Svevia, who built Castel del Monte nearby.

UNESCO World Heritage site, among the most visited attractions in Italy.

The Cathedral with its captivating crypt, a masterful reference to Norman architecture.

A masterpiece of stone architecture that only the city of Andria can boast.
"It was our first time in Andria, and we stayed at Borgomurgia as a base to explore the beauties of the area. Discovering Casamuseo was fantastic. Vincenzo and Roberta recommended the audio guide, and the visit was amazing"
